WHO`S BEHIND OSCARS 2021 FLOWER DESIGN?

Everyone for sure heard of Oscar’s ceremony. But did you ever put attention on the decoration of the space, scene, especially the usage of flowers? If not, we highly recommend you to take a look at those incredible designs. The best artists, interior designers, florists and decorators are working on each Ceremony scenery. The inspiration could be found everywhere.


Let’s talk about Oscars 2021. It special for couple reasons. First it combined two years of cinema industry in one. And second is because of its venue. Last Academy Awards ceremony, it’s safe to mention, had not been like any previous one. Renowned architect and Tony Award-winning set dressmaker David Rockwell was given a task to create a background suitable for a socially distanced event. He had chosen A train station, famous Union Station, an LA landmark that was originally constructed in 1939. He was inspired by first Oscar’s settings as well as Union Station’s Art Deco and Mission Style combination. Famous station is used to Hollywood atmosphere, it had been featured in movies like Blade Runner, The Italian Job, Catch Me If You Can.


Every area of the station was used for the show. In the north courtyard was created some kind of a floral fantasy garden with purple jacaranda trees and a ceiling of woven flowers. For the lounge zone David Rockwell choose Mah Jong sofas from Roche Bobois, in the previous years of his carrier he collaborated many times with this brand. Design of the ceiling was inspired by Maxfield Parrish’s paintings, specially “The Garden of Allah. Sequence of increased teak decks had been protecting the panorama, at the same time as jacaranda bushes have been festooned with lanterns amid floating pallets of roses, orchids, hydrangeas, poppies, and carnations. The ensemble became in light tones, together with mild crimson, cream, light orange and yellow with touches of purple.
